Wobbly but Unshaken

When Life Knocks You Off Balance

We all know that moment when life throws something so unexpected that it feels like the ground beneath you is shaking. Maybe it’s bad news from the doctor, an argument with someone you love, or an unexpected bill that drains your bank account. In those moments, it’s easy to wonder, “Am I going to make it through this?”

The Wobbly Chair

Picture yourself sitting in a chair that wobbles with every move you make. At first, you laugh it off, but after a while, you start to feel nervous. One wrong shift, and you could tumble. Life can feel like that chair—unstable, unpredictable, and nerve-wracking.

But this verse reminds us that when God is within you, you’re not sitting on a wobbly chair. You’re standing on a firm foundation.

God is within her, she will not fall
“God is within her, she will not fall.”
— Psalm 46:5

What “God Is Within Her” Really Means

The strength that keeps you from falling isn’t something you muster up—it’s God’s presence dwelling inside you.

The psalmist is saying that even if the world feels like it’s falling apart, you won’t collapse because God Himself is your stability. Inner strength doesn’t mean you never cry, struggle, or feel scared. It means that deep down, there’s an unshakable core holding you up: God’s Spirit living in you.

How To Put This Verse Into Practice

Simple steps you can take to hold on to that truth when the pressure mounts:

  • Start your day rooted. A simple prayer like, “Lord, remind me You’re with me today” can set the tone for unshakable confidence.
  • Repeat affirmations of faith. Whisper this verse when doubts creep in: “God is within me; I will not fall.”
  • Shift focus to God’s strength. When fear screams, “You can’t handle this,” answer back: “Maybe I can’t, but God in me can.”
  • Surround yourself with strength. Stay connected with people who uplift your faith, not those who drain it.

You don’t have to fear collapse, no matter what storm you’re facing. With God’s presence inside you, you have a foundation that can’t be shaken. So when life feels unstable, remind yourself:

You are not alone. You are not weak. You are upheld by a strength far greater than your own.
